INFORMATION ON THE HANGING OF SILK WALLPAPER

  1. We strongly recommend that you use a professional fabric wallpaper hanger with plenty of experience of hanging silk wallcoverings.  For contact details of experienced decorators, telephone House Couturier
  2. It is important that your client is aware that the finished effect will be panelled and not seamless. As silk is a natural fibre there may be irregularities and variations which will be especially visible as the fabric is laid flat, in particular there may be variations in shade and weave which are characteristics of silk fabrics.
  3. Before hanging, check that you are happy with the colour match of the various rolls.  House Couturier Limited does not accept liability for alleged defects apparent prior to hanging.  Returns will not be accepted.

Advice for the professional paper hanger

  1. The wall covering is supplied trimmed, a specific width can be requested at the time of ordering.  If no width is specified, then the wallcovering will be 10 cms shorter than the fabric width.  Eg If the fabric is 140 cms, the wall covering will be 130 cms wide.
  2. Check the wallcovering thoroughly prior to installation.
  3. Prepare walls prior to papering, surfaces should be dry, smooth and flat.  Do not expect wall paper to improve an imperfect surface by hiding defects because it is unlike to do so.
  4. All walls should be lined with a heavy grade paper, the colour should be similar to the wall covering in particular where the joins fall.
  5. Plan the positioning of each drop in advance to create a balanced paneled effect.
  6. Paste the wall with an undiluted ready-mixed PVA wall covering adhesive
  7. Butt join the seams.  Don’t overwork them however ensure there are no gaps.
  8. Take care not to put adhesive or water onto the face of the wallcovering.  Note that silk is easily marked even with water.
